Russian Easter Egg - IndigoBlu Design Team

Does it happen that you totally mess up your project and end up with something that not at all was what you expected? Well, the egg I´m sharing today was something like that. From the beginning this was supposed to be a delicate blue egg with golden crackles, but well, it ended up pretty much different.

I started this project by painting my egg matte black with GeeSso Good Gesso and Golden Acrylic Paint. When dry I applied  Kroma Crackle mixed with Acrylic Paint in the blue color Park Lane. To achieve more interest I stamped with the Rain Droplets stamp and applied Chariot of Fire Mega Flakes.

To seal the layers of paints I decided to use Diamond Resin. This did not turn out as I expected, the resin reacted with the layers of paint and made the colors change dramatically. When dry I decided that my egg looked more like a really old Russian Easter Egg than something romantic and delicate. To enhance that feeling I used metal embellishments from Finnabair. haI stacked them togheter and applied Mega Flakes for a more grungy feeling. Pearls on a pin with a small Finnabair star on the top finish of the egg perfectly.

To hold the egg in place I painted a tea metal tea light holder with Golden and Copper Metallic Acrylics and glued the egg in place. I am really happy with the end result even though I was skeptic during the process.

oh yes - I know exactly what you're talking about *gg* it's called: the creative process *ggg* I admit: I'm rather happy that it didn't end up romantic and delicate because I like THAT style much more. Great job!

My projects rarely turn out as intended! Sometimes it's for the best, mostly... not! Here we have a lovely metallic finish with a vintage feel, good outcome I think.
